Whive is a Social Media Platform for Africa. Whive mobile provides single, group and
bulk short message services to East Africans using colloquial applications through
Freemium and Paid business models hence solving the problem of lack of access to
localized (either by language or features) social media/communication applications
that can be used within the African context.
The application is already available in Swahili, French and English which covers
much of the African population. They have also included Sheng, Kikuyu and Dholuo
as pilot languages to ensure uptake of this mobile service within a more localized
context in Kenya.
Whive aims to enhance access of information to Africans including millions of mobile
phone subscribers across Africa by using SMS technology available that allows
them to view content in their local languages on their mobile phones. Our overall
web subscriber base consists of 90,000+ individuals with a further reach of about
100,000+ mobile users in Kenya.
Though we are still an early stage startup our rapidly growing platform already allows
organizations to reach the average African mobile user with a direct and personalized
messages offering important information on health, education and other services.
