Naivasha
WordCamp Kenya 2011 will take place at one of the most wonderful bird haven in the world, Naivasha, Kenya. It is said there is more than 350 different species of birds in Naivasha. Naivasha is about 80km from Nairobi city center and on the way, you get a great view of the great Rift Valley, Mt. Longonot and finally you arrive to Lake Naivasha.
Naivasha is also home to Hell’s Gate National Park, a small national park, it is known for its wide variety of wildlife and for its scenery. The national park is also home to three geothermal power stations at Olkaria. The park is equipped with three basic campsites and includes a Masai Cultural Center, providing education about the Maasai tribe’s culture and traditions.
Naivasha is also the largest fresh flower producer in East Africa and accounts for a huge percentage of all flowers exported to Europe.
Naivasha is famous for camping and how about a WordCamp on a real campsite? We located a wonderful location with all the facilities we shall require to have a wonderful conference and have great fun at WordCamp. It will be a great chance to be in the great Rift Valley and talk about WordPress.
Crayfish Camp
Crayfish Camp is located along Moi South Lake Road, 18km from Naivasha town set in natural Acacia woodland within one of the largest flower farms. It is popular with both domestic and overseas tourists and offers a wide range of activities such as mountain biking, boating, horse riding, nature walks, indoor games and picnicking.
The camp is renowned for its excellent cuisine especially fresh Crayfish from Lake Naivasha. We shall do a traditional Kenyan “Chama Choma” (Barbeque). Just next to the lake, there is nothing that compares the natural wild feeling and the wonderful sounds of music from the hundreds of birds within the compound.
