Anthony Mwangi is a web designer based in Nairobi. He is on a mission to revolutionize the culture on the internet. Currently working with Sprint-Interactive Ltd. He is a theme and plugin developer with a great portfolio.

He loves pushing WordPress to the limit and cant wait to share he’s experiences with others and learn from other’s experiences.

Boniface Mwangi

“Photography is my life. One of the most powerful tools in the world is a camera, it has been used to bring down dictators, change society and influence change. I strive to create vibrant, interesting and unusual images of the world we live. My life mantra is ‘living my life to make a difference” and l make the difference through my work as a social documentary photographer.

Amidst the violence that followed the 2007 election in Kenya, l falsified my identity and risked my life to photograph the atrocities my countrymen were inflicting on one another.”

Boniface Mwangi is a TED FELLOW and the founder of Picha Mtaani, a UN-funded initiative that focuses on reconciliation through photographic exhibitions and debate.

Crystal Watley Kigoni

Crystal Watley Kigoni has been working in the field of youth empowerment since the year 2000. She began in the United States by working with disadvantaged and unemployed youth, but soon realized the greater need for opportunity creation among the youth in developing countries. Crystal finished her undergraduate degree in Ethics and Social Institutions at the University of North Carolina in Asheville continually focusing on sustainable development and how to bring about rapid socio-economic change through youth actors.

Crystal is involved is the founder of  Voices of Africa, Haki Zetu among other major impact projects in Kenya. Crystal uses WordPress on all her websites as a CMS and also as a blogging tool.

David Mugo

David Mugo, the head of the organizing team is a WordPress developer and blogger. He will be speaking about WordPress and mobile blogging. More than 70% of Africans on the internet access the internet via mobile devices and WordPress mobile themes and applications come in handy for them. Mugo will speak about how to get your WordPress site mobile compatible and how to blog and manage your blog from your mobile.

Eric Katonya

Eric is the developer of http://crossopen.com and will be covering the following topics:

2 – Social Machines – delegating social connection management to the computer
3 – Social Platforms – what happens when you introduce APIs to your blog

Francis Waithaka

Francis is a blogger focused on social media and digital PR and marketing. His session will give you a spotlight on how to make the most of social media to get your blog and content to the intended users.

Huston Malande

Huston Malande is the lead developer and founder of Skyline Design, a branding and web development company that focuses on providing out-of-this-world design services. He has used WordPress, alongside other tools, for about four years to develop web sites running on custom themes for both international and local clients.

When he’s not geeking away at his laptop, he is most likely in the studio recording rap music, on his sport bike getting his adrenaline shot, performing poetry, hanging out with other Jesus freaks, or poring over a Wayne Grudem.

James Wamathai

James Wamathai is a writer, an accountant, an events manager,a voice artist and one of Kenya’s most prolific poetry bloggers. He is a regular guy who loves to read and write creatively. Wamathai blogs at http://wamathai.com, where up & coming writers see their work given a first airing.

He will be at WordCamp Kenya 2011 at the bonfire chat with some of his rhymes.

Kelvin Jayanoris

My name is Kelvin Jayanoris. I’m 25 and an accountant by training. I stumbled upon WordPress when I quit Deloitte to start my own company. I got into web design because I was looking for something to do and suddenly got a whole lot of people needing sites. My first business after Deloitte: www.nickelpro.com

While working with WordPress we hit a point in time when we needed to create lots of online shops. We wanted to use WordPress but got really bad experiences with the available ecommece plugins so we wrote DukaPress. We open sourced it because we felt that others could benefit. However, the response was so much that we decided to launch dukapress.org, dukapress.com and madoido.com to try and make a business of it.

Linda Kamau

Linda Kamau is a software developer based in Kenya with a degree in Business Information Technology. She develops both web and mobile applications at Ushahidi. Before joining Ushahidi, Linda worked as a software developer with IT firms such as Ibidlabs, Ltd. and Mobile Pay, Ltd.

When not doing what she loves most (coding), she enjoys outdoor activities like camping. She is also a die hard Man U fan and can often be found watching the latest football

Luca Neghesti

Luca is a Tanzanian techprenure, CEO and Founder of Bongo 5 Media, an online publishing house, entertainment and digital content aggregation firm. Luca’s session will be about monetizing your blog in Africa. This will be a useful session for most bloggers and content publishers who strain to keep their blog moving.

Njeri Wangare – Wanjohi

Njeri Wangare – Wanjohi is a multi talented Kenyan poet and performer, IT specialist and arts blogger whose collection of poetry was recently published under the title ‘Mines & Mind Fields; My Spoken Words’. She has now among some of the most talented Kenyan poets. Njeri Wangare has come to be known as the voice of reason and change in the Kenyan poetry circles due to the content and theme of her poems which range from Culture, human rights and challenges in Kenya. She performs regularly at various poetry spots in Kenya’s capital city Nairobi.

Sam Gichuru

31 year old Sam Gichuru is the co-founder and the current managing Director of ideas Africa Limited (www.ideasafrica.com ), which is a web solutions company and recently Nailab (www.nailab.co.ke) a Nairobi Based Incubation Laboratory.

He has become popular mainly due to his blog and his technology show on a Local radio Station called Tech Tuesday that he uses to educated/share information with the African masses on the growth of the internet, mobile phones, social media applications, from a very basic perspective, i.e opening a twitter account, Facebook etc, he has also been credited with the launch of some locally web applications and start-ups.

Sam will talk about community and the need for collaboration.
